Behind Mt. Olive Metal Craft

My name is Charles “Doug” Carter. I have been working and growing as an artist and a knife maker for the past 3 years with my knowledge for the craft growing daily.

The name of my forge is inspired by my home-away-from-home in Mount Olive, AR. Located in the Ozark Mountains on the White River, it is a place of peace and recreation for my family. I feel like my journey started when I took my first knife making class at the Ozark Folk Center in Mountain View while staying at our cabin. From there, I began doing more knife, sheath and other metal work at home. I was privileged to take a class with Forged in Fire’s Josh A. Weston at Robby Bowmans’ shop, Iron Mountain Metal Craft, during a summer class in Pigeon Forge, TN.
